Hangar Hawks Event Roundup

Thanks to the nearly 120 pilots and aviation enthusiasts who made it out to Indianapolis Executive Airport this weekend for the seminar on Pilot Deviations as well as Flying with the iPad: Part III!  The group heard from four great local attorneys who all fly and work within the aviation community about many of the legal issues that face pilots today. Additionally, our resident expert on all things iPad gave the group a run down on all the latest technologies and features for us in aviation.  The morning included a great continental breakfast and hot dog lunch. All-in-all a great day at the airport to kick-start the flying season!

Several folks requested that we post the presentations that were presented on Saturday. They are available in PDF form by clicking the links below:

Brooks Hosts Aviation Roundtable in Zionsville

Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) joined more than 40 industry experts including federal, state and local elected officials for an aviation roundtable today at the Indianapolis Executive Airport in Zionsville. The event was co-hosted by the Congresswoman, Montgomery Aviation, Indianapolis Executive Airport and the Hamilton County Airport Authority. Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard, Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear, Zionsville Town Council President Jeff Papa, State Representative Steve Braun and State Representative Jerry Torr were also in attendance.

“The Aviation industry accounts for more than 69,000 jobs and $14 billion in economic activity for our state,” Brooks said. “We are committed to working together to ensure our general aviation and small business airports in Indiana are successful.  Our local businesses rely on general aviation as a vital tool for business development. I’d like to thank Dan and Andi Montgomery from Montgomery Aviation for their assistance in organizing this important gathering.”

Participants discussed a wide range of concerns related to the aviation industry including federal regulations, workforce development opportunities and infrastructure needs. Perspectives were supplied by airport owners and managers, pilots, federal agencies and local businesses.

“Indiana’s aviation industry is vital to our State and has many opportunities for growth in the years ahead,” Dan Montgomery said. “Today’s forum provided a chance to collectively discuss ways we can work together to ensure continued success.”

“We’d like to thank Congresswoman Brooks for listening to our ideas and opinions today,” Andi Montgomery explained. “It’s so important to maintain an open and thoughtful dialogue with the leaders who represent us in Washington DC.”

Participants to be given opportunity to fly a Cessna

ZIONSVILLE, IN (July 11, 2013) – Montgomery Aviation is excited to once again partner with other local aviation and community organizations in support of the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy.  The week-long program for area youth will culminate on Saturday, July 13 at Indianapolis Executive Airport where the 35 students participating in the ACE Academy will have an opportunity to try their hands at the controls of a real airplane. Participants will have the opportunity to fly one of Montgomery Aviation’s Cessna 172 or Cessna 182 four-seat single-engine aircraft.

The orientation flights on Saturday will cap a week of activities where participants will be interacting with aviation professionals throughout the community, receiving mentoring, and touring various aviation facilities to further explore the various career opportunities within the aviation field.

The orientation flights will be conducted by Republic Airways pilots in Cessna 172 and Cessna 182 single-engine four-seat aircraft owned and operated by Montgomery Aviation and its flight school, Eagle Flyers, at Indianapolis Executive Airport in Zionsville. Participants will be given 20-30 minute orientation flights where they will have the opportunity to learn the steps involved in preparing for and executing a flight.

“We are excited to be a part of this important program to open the eyes of today’s young people to the many potential career opportunities within the aviation sector,” said Montgomery Aviation owner Dan Montgomery. “There are countless stories of pilots and others working in aviation today recalling how that “first flight” changed their lives forever and sent them on a path to a career in aviation. We want to be part of that and appreciate the opportunity to partner with ACE to make it possible for these students to take a flight.”
