Sr Open Golf Tournament
July 27–August 2
Professional golfers and tournament attendees have been selecting Indianapolis Executive as their preferred airport for the 2009 Sr. Open Golf Tournament at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, IN. The airport is only 11 miles from Crooked Stick and within an easy 10 minute drive to the finest area hotels and restaurants. For information call Montgomery Aviation at 317 769 4487.
Among those heading to Crooked Stick for the Sr Open was Greg Norman whose plane was hangared at Indy Exec. We were pleased to have such a celebrity. But, as Andi Montgomery points out, "We treat all our visitors like celebreties."
Berlin Airlift Anniversary Event
September 9-11
The Berlin Airlift operated for 322 days from June 1948 until April of 1949 because the Soviet Union had blocked all land access to West Berlin. In that time the United States airlifted 700 tons of food and other supplies a day for West Berlin’s 2 million residents. Rides are available at in an historic C-47 at Indy Exec. See photos and attached news release for complete details.
Black Sparrow Liberty Jump
October 10, 2009
The “Black Sparrow” flies again as it did on June 6, 1944. The C-47 was the lead plane in one of the first flights on D-Day dropping paratroopers of the 501st Airborne over Normandy. Veteran D-Day paratroopers will actually drop over Indianapolis Executive Airport and rides in the historic C-47 are available. See photos and attached news release for complete details.
June Open House – Big Success
The Open House fund raiser for the Indiana Down Syndrome Foundation drew nearly 2 thousand visitors on June 20th. The event raised over $15 thousand dollars. In the past 3 years the Oen House/Fly In has contributed $32,825 to the IDSF. The June 20th Open House also featured a Ribbon Cutting ceremony officially reopening runway 18/36. The runway was totally reconstructed thanks to $4.3 million dollars in federal stimulus money. See photos and attached news release for complete details.
Update: Final $1000 check added to tally.
