BIG Visitor at Indy Exec

We have a new visitor at Montgomery Aviation and Indy Exec. It's a Boeing 737 the largest jet we can accommodate. The aircraft is a corporate jet flown in from the England. We must say it looks really nice next to our all weather canopy and it makes a striking contrast in size beside the Cessna 162 Skycatcher from our Eagle Flyers flight school. The career minded can start out in the Skycatcher and one day be Pilot in Command of a jet like our visiting 737!

The Open House at Indianapolis Executive Airport on Saturday August 4th raised a total of $17,200 the most ever in the six years the event has been held. More than a thousand visitors turned out to see a variety of aviation displays, demonstrations and other family activities with the donations coming from vendor proceeds, corporate sponsors and individual donations.

Lisa Wells, Executive Director of Down Syndrome Indiana is “Excited” adding, “This will go a long ways toward enhancing the lives of individuals with Down Syndrome.”

Airport Managers and owners of Montgomery Aviation, Dan and Andi Montgomery say they are especially grateful for the turnout. ”The sponsors, individual donors and dozens of volunteers make a wonderful team and shows how the airport makes a valuable contribution to the commuity that is above and beyond the economic impact.”

Since Montgomery Aviation organized the rst Airport Open House in 2007, a total of $73,800 has been raised for Down Syndrome Indiana.

Indy Exec's very own flight school Eagle Flyers, Inc. set up shop at this years Indianapolis Air Show at Indianapolis Regional Airport.  We wanted to bring awareness to aviation training and becoming a private pilot.  Our goal was also to showcase our fleet and to show how affordable it really can be!  Dozens of people were attracted  by the affordable cost of the Light Sport Cessna 162, which we flew in for the airshow.  The Air Show on Saturday and Sunday June 23rd and 24th also gave the media a look see at the Skycatcher, the media crew of Comcast will be doing a story on it!  Carl Winkler, Dan Montgomery, Ray Rice, and Jack Vandeventer and many other volunteers worked the air show all weekend and did a fabulous job!  We even had quite a few new Eagle Flyers members sign up at the air show, including aviation enthusiast Jay Chu who will be flying this Tuesday to start get his private!  Since we were such a hit, Eagle Flyers will probably attend next year too!

View from Indy Exec's Temporary Tower

Here's a view from the tempoary FAA tower at Indianapilis Executive Airport with a jet taking off on runway 18. Traffic has definitely increased at Indy Exec but there's more to come!  On Super Bowl Sunday Montgomery Aviation expects to welcome fans and flights crews of approximately 130 jets. We have 100 volunteers giving their time to provide a warm Hoosier greeting to everyone who comes through.

Indy Exec Super Bowl Photos

There will be more than a thousand photographs of the 2012 Super Bowl at Indy Exec by the time we sort through them all. You will be seeing them on our webpage as well as on Facebook, our newsletter and in this blog. The photos here are among the 725 I took for Montgomery Aviation and Indianapolis Executive Airport.

A frost settled in as fans and crews returned to their planes and deicing continued into the night and continued at daylight. That's Dan Montgomery behind the spray on the morning after.

By Monday afternoon the last jet took off leaving the rest of us to think about the next "Big Game."
The last jet leaves on day after the Super Bowl.

As far as Montgomery's service is concerned, we received many, many compliments for which we are thankful. If you were among those who came to visit, we hope you come back. You are always welcome!

Wing Over Indiana

Here's a program note. Tonight (Thursay, March 1st) at 8 o'clock WFYI-TV will broadcast a special program entitled "Wings Over Indiana." Record if you can't see it at that time. Although it wisl be repeated in the days to come.

Given WFYI-TV's record of excellence, this should be a really fine program for everyone not only those interested in aviation.
