The Super Bowl is just a couple of weeks away - and with it come BIG changes to aircraft operations across Central Indiana. Even if you're not planning on flying on Super Bowl Sunday - you need to pay attention.  The issues below affect ALL PILOTS operating any aircraft (VFR or IFR) from Monday, January 30 - Monday, February 6.

Visit the exclusive Super Bowl Informational section of our NEW website at:

Print out the attached checklist so you remember to dot all your "i's" and cross all your "t's":

General and Business Aviation - Know Before You Go

Please Check EACH of the Following Locations for Important Information BEFORE you Depart:

1.) The Official FAA Super Bowl NOTAM located online at:

http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/notices/2012-01-12/SP11035.cfm

2.) All airport specific NOTAMs, additional information will be disseminated via airport specific NOTAM including:

a.) The creation of Class D Airspace around the 3 temporary control towers at Indianapolis Executive Airport (TYQ), Eagle Creek Airpark (EYE), and Indianapolis Regional Airport (MQJ). It is expected that these airports will have a 3NM radius ring of Class D airspace up to 2000' MSL around each temporary control tower whenever the tower is in operation, however, check the NOTAM for final confirmation. These temporary towers will be in operation from Wednesday, February 1 - Monday, February 6 during the following times:

4.) The Aviation Tab on the Official Super Bowl Host Committee Website - www.indianapolissuperbowl.com. Here your will find:

a. Important information and updates on airport parking status and any potential weather or incident related issues, closures, or delays

b. Expected temporary tower hours of operation

c. Links to all related FAA NOTAMs and information

d. Other important updates or information that may not have been communicated in other locations

Other Important Information:

Due to the nature of the event and the expected high traffic volumes and heightened level of security - we have made some changes to our operation from Monday, January 30 - Monday, February 6.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and will work with you to the best of our ability to make alternative arrangements.

1.) Eagle Flyers Flights School and Aircraft Rental will be CLOSED Monday, January 30 - Monday, February 6.

2.) Due to parking, owners with aircraft located in Hangars K,L, & M will NOT have access to their aircraft from Thursday, February 2 - Monday, February 6.  You should have received a letter to this effect. Arrangements can be made in advance to relocate your aircraft to either Frankfort or Grissom and shuttle service will be provided to those airports. Please contact Bobby Beem with any questions or to make arrangements.

3.) The ramp / hangars will NOT be accessible via car during this time period as well.  Please, do not attempt to drive onto the ramp these days.  Come into the FBO if you need something specifically.

4.) Please only come to the airport on official business during this time - security will be posted at the entrance and you may be asked to show ID and identify the reason for your visit.

Thank you again for your attention to these changes and assistance during this exciting time for our city.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all.

Have a SUPER Day!

February 18 - Eagle Flyers Fly-out to the Dixie Chopper in Greencastle

Our January fly-out to Kacy J's in Muncie didn't lead to a flight to Muncie (1700' ceilings) - but was a great time at the local Cracker Barrel. We'll try again in February - still keeping it close - and head to Dixie Chopper down in Greencastle (Putnam County).

As always - we'd like to get rolling from TYQ at 10:00AM - so please meet before then so we can match up rides and people.  If you are going and have extra spots, or need a spot - please contact Pat Gaston and we'll pair you up.

If there is bad weather, come to TYQ anyway, and we'll drive somewhere for lunch and hangar talk.
