We know that fuel prices continue to be a challenge for everyone in aviation and can assure you that we are doing everything in our power to keep our fuel prices as low as we can and competitive with airports around us. There are many factors that influence pricing including how often we go through fuel loads (and thus are susceptible to price fluctuations), as well as local fuel flow fees, excise taxes, and sales taxes. Every airport is a little different in how they handle this - but if you are ever curious or concerned, we are more than happy to talk with you about it. Please just come in and talk to one of the management staff and we'll be more than happy to walk you through it.
You might not realize that Indiana is one of only 15 states that impose the state sales tax on aviation fuel. When combined with the excise tax makes Indiana one of the highest taxed states for aviation fuel. AOPA has been working hard this legislative session to get the state to exempt aviation fuel from the sales tax - thus reducing the price of fuel. You can learn more about their progress in this article.
We look forward to this Spring and Summer and seeing many of you back out at the airport again!

Hangar Hawks Event a Success!
The Hangar Hawks event on February 9th was another big success. Nearly 100 pilots from all over Indiana attended to hear local examiners Bob Duncan, Larry Bothe, and Mitch Grundman give tips on the Sport, Private, Instrument, and Commercial check-rides. We really appreciate their willingness to come and talk with all of us!
We also had Part II of "Flying with the iPad" and walked through several applications and tricks to enhancing your flying experience with the iPad.
We will continue to do Hangar Hawks educational and aviation social events throughout the year. Please let us know if you have ideas by sending an email to Sean White.
Also, if you are interested in doing smaller group instruction on the iPad (5-10 people at a time, probably on a weeknight or Saturday morning). Please let Sean know as well.
